Dancing has always been a universal form of expression. It unbottles pent-up feelings even without speaking a single word. At the same time, it brings out the color in life and can drastically changing everything from worse to good and bad to better.
Recently, Caronia by Vibelle Manufacturing Corp., the pioneering locally produced nail polish brand in the Philippine market, teamed up with Ballet Philippines (BP), the country’s premiere professional dance company, to launch a year-long partnership to support young dance scholars with life and color.

Through this partnership, Caronia released its latest nail polish collection The Art of Dance to celebrate the start of BP’s 45th season.
This collection, which features three distinct hues, springs from the French terms of classical ballet movements: Pique, Chasse and Glissade. The Pique nail polish comes in a salmon pink shade, the Chasse in a royal blue hue, and the Glissade in a light sea green color.

The Art of Dance is also Caronia’s very first nail polish collection that is free of formaldehyde and dibutyl phthalate (DBP), putting it at par with international nail polish brands. Toluene is a colorless, water-insoluble liquid chemical solvent with the telltale odor of paint thinners. It has intoxicating properties potentially capable of causing severe neurological harm. Formaldehyde is also a colorless chemical with an irritating odor. Exposure to these ingredients has been linked to cancer, toxins and allergens. DBP, on the other hand, is known for making nail polish flexible. It is commonly referred to as a plasticizer and reportedly may cause negative effects on the body. Without these ingredients, Caronia’s latest collection promises to keep consumers safe.

During the event at the Manila Peninsula Hotel, guests were treated to a ballerina performance. The costumes came in the exact shades of Caronia’s Art of Dance collection.

“We believe in the strong power of color,” says Olive Soria, the brand manager of Caronia. “It is an avenue of individuality and self-expression. Caronia as of today has over 80 shades in its nail polish collection, but this does not mean we are slowing down because we are aiming to bring more shades to the Filipino consumers that will help them express their unique personality. That is what Caronia is all about.”
Rubily Gomez, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Dance School principal, explains the colorful world of ballet: “The beautiful thing about CCP Dance School, since we are the official school of Ballet Philippines, is we train the next generation of dancers for the company. In the Noordin Jumali scholarship program, we have scholar students who train with us everyday after their academic classes. They train with us in classical and modern ballet. This is because we want these young student dancers to have the opportunity to really fulfill their dreams as dancers. Taking up ballet or dancing is such a long process, and I think it is something I can tell you more about because I was also a recipient of the scholarship program and it really took a lot of time and effort. Did you know that to train a classical dancer takes eight years just for schooling, not even performing? It’s all just training, stretching and strengthening exercise to learn the technique. It is outside of the norm for a regular student, but just the process itself and even more the outcome is so beautiful.”
The Art of Dance is a continuation of last year’s campaign, which was the Caronia Music Festival. This year, Caronia wants to show the audience how there is also color in dance and movement. Caronia releases two collections that would represent the beauty of dance, with each having new colors to be launched. The first collection is The Art of Dance.
Soria continues, “Our honored guests today will be one of the first to try Caronia’s latest collection. The Art of Dance will also be available in individual bottles for people to get to choose if they want to try out one color at a time. As our support for this partnership and the dance, Coronia is going to donate a portion of the proceeds from the two collections to the Noordin Jumali Scholarship Foundation.”

Caronia is issuing limited edition boxes of the collection with vouchers inserted in selected packs. Each voucher is equivalent to tickets for two to any Ballet Philippines show from April 2014 until February 2015. This will only be distributed in limited branches and selected partners and retail stores in Metro Manila. Winners can claim the official voucher from Caronia by calling the company to schedule an appointment for pick-up of the tickets and must bring a valid ID.
Caronia is one step closer to making life more fabulous. Colors and dance indeed play an important role in life, literally turning black and white moments into a spectacular vibrant memory.
Caronia’s The Art of Dance collection is available nationwide in major retailers, supermarkets, department stores, drugstores and other retail partners.
