When Rodgers and Hammerstein's The King And I was mounted at the award-winning stage of the Newport Performing Arts Theater (NPAT) at Resorts World Manila, it brought my childhood memories of it back to life. It reminded me of the cartoon version I enjoyed watching growing up. The story, the songs and even the characters of the movie stuck in my head until this very day.

The King And I premiered in the Philippines on September 2012 and became a huge hit as locals and tourists flooded the NPAT to get a taste of the sensational all-Filipino cast's performance.

The eight-month of the production was a testament to its success and what better way to toast it than by launching The King and I coffee-book table entitled Something Wonderful. Resorts World Manila along with Ultimate Entertainment wanted to thank all its fans and supporters by encapsulating its success in said coffee table book.

During the recent event at Maxim Hotel's Genting Club, the coffee book table was available for purchase at a discount, and to top it off, the whole cast was present for autographs!
Something Wonderful features photographs from the performance, the artists and backstage personalities who had made the theatre production a phenomenon.

Also, the event served Thai food that somewhat coincided with The King And I theme. The refreshment was a concoction of pandan ice tea served alongside appetizers like Thai chicken salad and fresh roll shrimp salad with chili. The main courses served were pad thai noodles, mu-sa-mun curry, satay chicken with peanut sauce, tod mun pla, baked pompret with sambal sauce, and for dessert, coconut flan and mango pudding.

The Something Wonderful coffee-table book is available at all National Bookstores nationwide.
