Big things often start from humble beginnings.

Such is the case for Penshoppe, a proudly Filipino fashion icon brand that started in Cebu City in 1986. Last February 10, 2017, it celebrated the launch of its biggest branch yet, called Penshoppe Capital, at the UP Town Center.
The Penshoppe Capital is an 80-sq.m. fashion haven, with white floors to accentuate the brand’s latest ensembles surrounded by artsy elements that add more life to it.
I'd love to have a closet like this, so artsy!

Located at the center is a DenimLab that offers an array of pants, with a triple halo-like lighting installation that brightens the Capital. Found also inside is a giant screen playing Penshoppe’s latest campaigns in place of display windows.

While standing right outside the DenimLab, it sure is tempting to take a look inside!

Obviously, I couldn't resist!
Launched together with the store opening was Penshoppe’s 2017 Spring-Summer collection of mostly light casual wear with a sporty edge to it.

Penshoppe has always been a favorite among millennials because it never goes out of style. It is a local brand with quality wear and is undeniably trend-setting. There was a mix and match of good old plain shirts, statement shirts, sweaters, bomber jackets, jumpers, ripped jeans and many more. The color palette of the season ranged from pastel tones to neutral ones with subtle intricate details. There were also a number of dynamic tropical prints to cater to those who prefer loud styles.

Take your pick!

The audience’s expectations were definitely surpassed as the Penshoppe team made it a night to remember with a party set-up. Right outside the fashion haven was a garden decorated with a fiesta vibe. There were vibrant, triangular flag banners hanging above with comfortable, cushioned seats on the green grass.

Sit back, relax and enjoy the party hosted by Penshoppe!

C'mon, join in!
There were also various booths offering delightful treats like popsicles in flavors of strawberry yogurt, mango milkshake, pineapple express and halo-halo; milkshakes made from carabao’s milk with the flavors tablea choco, peanut butter and banana caramel; specially-made colorful cocktails with a list of choices such as chill mojito, I heart mojito, groovy mojito, orange heartbreak, dark oasis cola, passionate margarita, tropical affair, spirited love, summer juice and sunrise cooler; and unique flavored cotton candy such as smores, mint chips, piƱa colada and, of course, classic.

Cocktails, anyone?

Cotton candy lovers would definitely enjoy the unique flavors offered at the booth
Booths for games included throwing hoops over bottles and bottle flipping. The prizes were Penshoppe accessories and signed posters or Polaroids of Penshoppe’s international endorsers.

There was also a booth for temporary tattoo art that offered colors in black, silver and gold, and a booth for customizing your very own cap with iconic patches. A party, of course, would not be complete without a photobooth.

Patch 'em up!

Loving the metallic art on my skin!
During the event, Jeff Bascon, Penshoppe’s brand director, said, “Our goal with our Spring-Summer 2017 collection is to remind everyone of the true spirit of summer. The looks we have are young and carefree yet functional, flattering and undeniably trendy. These are the kind of clothes that allow you to go more places and do more of the things you love without having to worry about how you will look.”

When asked about Penshoppe Capital, Bascon shared, “One of our biggest considerations when designing Penshoppe Capital was to make it a destination. In order to do this, we needed to create a unique shopping experience. That’s when we thought about playing with space. The store is laid out in such a way that shoppers can easily move from one section to the next and allows everyone to have a clear view of the brand’s offerings at a macro perspective.”

The homegrown brand has gone international since it first began in the Visayas, then expanding in the Mindanao market and in Metro Manila. Penshoppe’s first boutique opened its doors in SM City North Edsa in 1991. Penshoppe’s network of stores has grown to over 300 sites including the United Arab Emirates, Jakarta, Indonesia and Hanoi. Penshoppe is even considering other Asian-Pacific markets such as Australia.
