The uproar could not go unnoticed when one of the most beautiful Filipina faces graced SM North Edsa The Block to launch Maybelline's Clearsmooth All-in-One Powder Foundation recently along with the #MakeItHappenWithLiza event. Before the program started, avid fans were already crowding the activity center of The Block, purchasing Maybelline beauty products in the pop-up booths for a chance to win an exclusive meet-and-greet with Manila's It girl.

Even before her appearance on stage, however, Liza surprised her fans by disguising herself as a brand beauty adviser and interacting with them. The box-office superstar tried her best to blend with the crowd, but fitting in was nearly impossible because, face it, she is one to stand out.
It didn't take long before she was recognized, and from a distance, all I could hear were louder shrieks coming from the top of their lungs. What was amazing, however, was that while adrenaline pumped up the crowd, they immediately hushed when Liza finally came up on stage to sing and dance to The Chainsmokers’ “Don't Let Me Down” hit song.
Astoundingly, she controlled the crowd, and such was the power of Liza Soberano.“But who is Liza Soberano? Not only has this teener made a name for herself in the Philippines, her beauty has also been recognized by international singers like Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, The Vamp, Charlie Puth and The Chainsmokers.
For Liza, it all began at the age of 12 when she left the United States to return to Manila and was offered jobs to model for print ads. A year later, a talent scout spotted her and introduced her to Ogie Diaz (her current talent manager). Little did she know that her life was about to change forever.

When Liza landed a huge role in the ABS-CBN series Forevermore, her star began to shine and since then, she has been all over billboards, TV commercials and has continued to lead many roles in both teleseryes (television series) and movies.

As busy as her schedule is today, Liza shares how she keeps herself looking fresh all day. “I use Maybelline's Clearsmooth All-in-One powder foundation. It is my personal favorite because it helps cover up blemishes, but at the same time, still look natural. It gives me that flawless, shine-free, natural makeup look that's perfect for everyday use. For example, when I go off-cam, it gives me the boost of confidence I need even if it seems like I have no makeup on. I love how it blends well with the Filipina skin that's why I believe every Filipina should try it.”

Maybelline's Clearsmooth All-in-One powder foundation makes one feel made-up even without liquid foundation. It is makeup-on-the-go, made for everyday use without much effort to exert just a few pats on the face and you're good to go. It works for those who want to cover flaws with just minimal makeup on.

The Daily Tribune, along with other media guests, had a chance to sit down with Liza at a private room in a restaurant in the same mall. Get to know her more via the Q&A below:

Q: Growing up, have you always been a kikay? When did you start getting interested in makeup?
LS: When I was young, I wouldn't say I was a lot kikay (chic). I was into sports and boyish things, but I was always fascinated with the modeling world, so I guess that opened my eyes. When I hit puberty, that's when I started getting into makeup because I wanted to look dalaga (lady-like). I think I started wearing minimal makeup when I was 12 to 13.

What are your top three favorite Maybelline makeup products?
The first would be Maybelline's Clearsmooth All-in-One powder foundation to cover up flaws. Second would be the Maybelline Hyper Curl Volume Express Mascara because I always like to highlight my eyes the most since I have small eyes. Being a celebrity, I don't always get that much sleep at night, so I want my eyes to have that extra pop and seem really open. This product is really the best. Last but not least would be Maybelline's Rosy Matte Lipstick, just so that my lips don't look so dull. It also adds color to my face.

You always look sensational! As far as I am aware, for a person to look sensational, one has to take care of their skin. How do you take care of your skin?
Thank you! Well, basically I just make sure I am moisturized a lot. I drink a lot of water just to keep my skin glowing and smooth and I don't eat food that I know would be bad for my skin that would cause me to break out.

It's no surprise that Maybelline got you as an endorser and that this was also your father's dream for you. What's your take on this?
(Giggles) My father is silly. I guess it's my father's dream for his daughter to be known around the world. My dad, he wants people to know the Soberano name and that's why he wants this for me. He really believes in me that I could make it.

With such beauty, many predict you are the next beauty queen. Do you consider being a beauty queen one day?
In the future? Well, we will see. If it is God's will, it will happen. But for me right now, I'm just really focusing on my acting career and my studies. I don't really have the time to commit to being a beauty queen.

When it comes to makeup, who inspires you? What YouTube channel do you go to for your looks?
When it comes to putting makeup on myself, I have to say I'm not an expert, so yes I look up YouTube videos for help. My ultimate beauty inspiration is Audrey Hepburn. She's so simple yet elegant and classy. She's so beautiful inside and out; that's why I love her so much. But I also like getting inspiration from Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner for how their makeup is done for certain events. I try to copy it, but like I said, I'm no expert so most of the time, I trust my makeup artist Mickey See.

What's your favorite look? Have you always been a fan of the no-makeup makeup look?
For my favorite look, I always like looking super bronzy and I like nude tones a lot for my lipsticks and my eye shadows. And yes, I also love the no-makeup makeup look because it's usually the look I pull off the most, onscreen and off-screen, and it's the easiest makeup look to do.

Sincere and down-to-earth, Liza Soberano will no doubt continue to bring inspiration to her countless fans. With her beauty and talent to draw people together, she is an ideal Maybelline girl. Cary Co, marketing director of Maybelline Philippines, even declares, “Liza Soberano is the perfect fit for Maybelline as she empowers women and truly inspires every FIlipina to make it happen. This is why Maybelline launched the #MakeItHappenWithLiza event because we all believe in her. We see how Filipinas look up to her. We see that she's someone they can relate to because she is very real. At the same time, she knows what she wants; she's a go-getter and she makes it happen.”
Grab Liza's favorite Maybelline's Clearsmooth All-in-One Powder Foundation that comes in four shades (Nude Beige, Natural, Honey and Sand Beige) and is dermatologically tested. It is created to be two times more lightweight.
